Miss 1:06

With Miss 1:06 you should always expect the unexpected! Playing across a multitude of sub-genres of house, she comes with a reputation for finding and playing those lesser-known tracks and those underground edits and remixes that you might not have come across. With a passion for all types of music stretching back to her childhood she brings a wealth of musical knowledge and understanding.

Born and bred in Kent, with a brief foray 'up north' to study in her late teens and early twenties, she returned to Kent in the late 90's.

Having been a huge fan of the rave scene and club culture, she finally took the plunge and decided to try djing in 2020. Largely self-taught she approached FunkySX with some guest mixes for late night playlists late in 2020, and by February 2021 had been given a regular show on the schedule. This gave her the confidence to really explore more of the house music spectrum and to push herself to try mixing different styles and sub-genres.

Three years later she goes from strength to strength, with two regular weekly shows as well as frequent cover shows playing everything from balearic and afro house to soulful and deep house, progressive house, breaks, tech house, melodic techno and old skool & rave house. In addition to embracing different musical styles, she has generated a large fan base for her shows, and regularly draws a big audience. She was even featured in a book, "Lady of the House" celebrating females in the dance music industry alongside a host of huge artists including the likes of Barbara Tucker, Charlotte de Witte, Nancy Noise and Sam Divine.

Influenced by a number of different producers and artists, her musical roots are in jazz from her time as a small child listening with her dad, and this remains probably one of her main influences. Her formative years were spent listening to the early rave scene and she still has a huge passion for this but has expanded her tastes and influences into progressive house and breaks, tech house and new techno.

Miss 1:06 believes strongly in allowing music to breathe and enjoys mixing without too many effects and tricks, showcasing the beauty of the track as it was originally produced. Being grateful for the support she has received on her own journey, she is a champion for lesser-known artists and labels bringing them to her listeners through her shows and gigs, sharing her passion for incredible music.

Although relatively new to djing, Miss 1:06 has, in addition to her radio shows, played at a festival in Kent, "Gratitude", supporting a local men's mental health charity, alongside artists including Rat Pack, Secret Agenda, Dina Vass and Tenacious. She has played at "Nite Life" and "Sister Mixers" (an all-female line up) at the Social Chill Bar in Maidstone, as well as "Totally Tech House" with other FunkySX djs and for which she assisted in organising the event; she has played at "Crescendo", a progressive house event in Bexleyheath, and on a number of the FunkySX Live broadcast events.

Loving her music, Miss 1:06 hopes to continue sharing her passion for the music she loves with her audiences and discovering more new artists and tracks. And you never know, she might even dip her toe into the world of music production one day!
